Coach Preston Picus
Preston Picus has coached wrestling for more than 20 years. Picus, a four-year wrestler for Columbia University at the D-1 level, started his coaching career at Jesuit High School in New Orleans for two years where the team won back-to-back State Championships. The second year was during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Picus coached in San Diego and Hawaii for several years before coming to Tamalpais High School where he has served as head coach and assistant coach for 15 years. He has a background in MMA, Muay Thai, boxing and Jiu-Jitsu and has coached wrestlers from elementary school through high school and college, up to the World Team trials. He also coaches amateur and professional MMA athletes. Picus lives in Novato with his wife and together they have 3 children (ages 10, 7 and 6) who are all wrestlers, gymnasts and surfers.
Coach Cory Boyd
Cory Boyd has been coaching youth sports for 25 years. In that time, he has acquired a broad background and experience in a variety of sports and training environments, including wrestling, football, track & field, olympic weightlifting, power lifting, competitive fitness, and strength & conditioning. He has been the Head Wrestling Coach at San Marin High School since 2023, where he is also a teacher. During his tenure he has led the boys team to consecutive MCAL championships, and helped develop multiple CIF qualifiers on the girls team. He is excited to work with Coach Preston to grow the sport of wrestling in Marin County. He lives in Novato with his wife, who is also a teacher at San Marin, and 2 children, who are also members of Stampede Wrestling Club.
